I am much indebted for valuable
information was ultimately worked by the finding of a manuscript digest of the native tariff made
by a merchant who traded between
Canton, Swatow, the treaty Coast ports, Siam and Singapore some years ago.
I shall have to refer
to extracts from this manuscript
presently.
